HAMILTON, N.J. ( June 7, 2023) — The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI), issued by Dodge Construction Network, fell 2.0% in May to 180.5 (2000=100) from the revised April reading of 184.1. Over the month, the commercial component of the DMI fell 6.1%, while the institutional component improved 5.6%.

HAMILTON, N.J. (May 18, 2023) — Total construction starts fell 4% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.04 trillion, according to Dodge Construction Network. Nonresidential starts led the drop as manufacturing fell 22% following strong performance in March. To balance the decline, nonbuilding starts rose 7%, and residential building stats gained 12%.

Cincinnati, Ohio (May 25, 2023) — Kyocera Senco Industrial Tools (SENCO), a global provider of fasteners and power fastening tools, has announced the opening of its official global headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. ANAHEIM, Calif. (May 22, 2023) — Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc., distributor of Isuzu commercial vehicles in the U.S., announced that Matthew A. Mesick has been appointed as the company’s first director, EV strategies. The creation of the position comes just two months after the company announced that its first all-electric truck for the U.S. and Canadian markets will begin production late in the first quarter of 2024.

WASHINGTON (May 5, 2023) — The construction industry added 15,000 jobs on net in April, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment expanded by 205,000 jobs, an increase of 2.7%.

ANAHEIM, Calif —  Hino Trucks has signed a distribution agreement with Hexagon Purus to exclusively distribute a complete battery electric tractor. This tractor will utilize Hexagon Purus’ proprietary zero-emission technology, including battery systems, auxiliary modules, power modules and the vehicle-level software and is developed to operate on Hino’s XL 4x2 tractor cab chassis.

 

WASHINGTON (April 11, 2023) — Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) reported that its Construction Backlog Indicator declined to 8.7 months in March, according to an ABC member survey conducted March 20 to April 3. The reading is 0.4 months higher than in March 2022.
