Jim Minnich, who led an era of innovation and expansion at Minnich Manufacturing (the business his father started out of a Mansfield, Ohio, gas station in 1968) is retiring after 25 years of service. Under Jim’s ownership, Minnich Manufacturing introduced several innovative technologies, grew to more than 40 employees and moved into a larger manufacturing facility in Mansfield—all with an unwavering focus on meeting customer needs.

Takeuchi-United States, compact equipment producer, has introduced Ron Holmes as warehouse operations manager, effective immediately. Based out of Takeuchi-U.S. headquarters in Pendergrass, Georgia, Mr. Holmes’s main responsibilities include: 

OSHA is giving away $10.5 million in Susan Harwood Training Grants for nonprofit organizations, including community and faith-based organizations, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor/management associations, Indian tribes, and colleges and universities. Details here. 

The report looks at how concrete buildings are the new “green” buildings. Structures that last longer reduce environmental footprint because their emissions, attributed to heating, cooling and operation, can be spread over many decades. Incorporating concrete can also contribute toward achieving points in the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

Universal Forest Products Inc. has announced that one of its affiliates closed on the purchase of the operating assets of Wolverine Wood Products, a Grand Rapids-based manufacturer of wood panel components for furniture, store fixtures and case goods.
