BOSTON (Oct. 7, 2025) — The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI), issued by Dodge Construction Network, increased 3.4% in September to 304.6 from the downwardly revised reading of 294.7. Over the month, commercial planning expanded 4.7% while institutional planning ticked up 0.9%. Year-to-date, the DMI is up 33% from the average reading over the same period in 2024.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 30, 2025) — The construction industry had 188,000 job openings on the last day of August, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. JOLTS defines a job opening as any unfilled position for which an employer is actively recruiting. Industry job openings decreased by 115,000 last month and are down by 116,000 from the same time last year.

IRVING, Texas (Sept. 29, 2025) ― Held on Caterpillar grounds at the Edward J. Rapp Customer & Training Center, the Global Operator Challenge (GOC) divided the 32 best operators from the U.S. and Canada into East and West regions for the semifinal competitions. The two winners will now advance to the final round to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, during CONEXPO-CON/AGG (March 4, 2026), inside Caterpillar’s 70,000-square-foot outdoor exhibit in the Festival Lot.

SAN FRANCISCO (Sept. 23, 2025) — Samsara Inc., the provider of the Connected Operations platform, announced a major expansion of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered safety platform that gives operational leaders and frontline managers a comprehensive tool kit to reduce risk at scale. The new features — including weather intelligence, automated coaching and worker safety — are designed to help operation leaders improve fleet safety in and outside of the cab.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 16, 2025) — Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) reported that its Construction Backlog Indicator fell from 8.8 months in July to 8.5 months in August, according to an ABC member survey conducted Aug. 20 to Sept. 3. The reading is up 0.3 months since August 2024.

PASADENA, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Bluebeam, a developer of solutions and services for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals worldwide, announced results from their 2025 State of Men's Health in Construction survey, revealing a critical health gap on jobsites across the U.S. The findings show that more than 65% of male construction workers have never been screened for prostate cancer, and 81% report delaying screenings.
