The state of New York was the first to pass legislation to require the new sign

DEER PARK, N.Y. (June 15, 2015) - Allstate Sign & Plaque, a signage company based in Deer Park, New York, is offering contractors and builders signage featuring the newly designed accessibility symbol.

“In 2012, the Accessible Icon Project created this symbol and we’re proud to provide these products to contractors throughout the nation,” said Mark Fick, president of Allstate Sign & Plaque.

The new accessible symbol, created by the Accessible Icon Project, features an active figure, with wheels in motion. The arm and legs within the symbol were revised to meet ADA guidelines. The arms were reconstructed to display a more active position. New York was the first to pass legislation that would require new and replaced signs to feature the new symbol.

To date, federal government buildings, several college and university campuses and various communities have embraced the new symbol and the signage featuring it.
