Each award recipient has made lasting contributions to the safety profession

ATLANTA, Georgia (June 29, 2016) - The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) recognized Brad D. Giles, CSP, STSC, P.E., Grad IOSH; Jeremiah N. Shupe, CSP, ASP, CHST; and Paul G. Specht, PhD, CSP for their many accomplishments as safety professionals. The BCSP certificants received awards at the fifth annual Award of Excellence ceremony at the American Society of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) Safety 2016 Professional Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

BCSP received award submissions from many exceptional safety professionals. After thoughtful review, Brad Giles received the CSP Award of Excellence and Jeremiah Shupe received the CHST Award of Excellence. Dr. Paul Specht was chosen by the Board for the BCSP Lifetime Achievement Award.

John Hodges, CSP, OHST, President of the BCSP Board of Directors, said, "These professionals have demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to others' well-being and I am proud to recognize their dedication with these awards. Their accomplishments are a source of inspiration."

"I am truly honored and humbled by this award, especially in light of the caliber and contributions made to the safety profession by the past recipients," Dr. Specht said in his acceptance speech, in which he recognized the work of safety educators for their role in advancing safety practice. "I am proud to accept it on behalf of all the safety and environmental health educators who have made enormous contributions to our profession."
