Trimble Expands Risk Intelligence Capabilities to Include Construction Drawings

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (Oct. 21, 2026) — Document Crunch, a Trimble company, announced new project-level risk intelligence capabilities that allow contractors to review construction drawings alongside contracts, specifications and other documents. Leveraging CrunchAI technology, project teams can now search and query across full document sets simultaneously to identify scope gaps, conflicting requirements and potential risks.

“Construction teams work across hundreds of drawing sheets, specifications, contracts and other project documents, and significant risks emerge when information across these documents doesn’t align,” said Josh Levy, co-founder of Document Crunch and vice president of risk and compliance solutions at Trimble. “Accelerating this review process with AI provides preconstruction teams a comprehensive view of project requirements, allowing them to identify conflicts and scope gaps while there is still time to clarify, price or resolve them before they become rework, unplanned cost or disputes.”

A More Complete View of Project Risk

General-purpose AI models can struggle with large, text-dense drawing sheets and lack the project context needed to connect requirements across document sets, making it harder to reliably surface conflicts and gaps between them.

Purpose-built for construction, CrunchAI extracts and indexes the text from construction drawing sets, including notes, allowances and scope-defining language, buried across hundreds of sheets. Through an intuitive chat interface, teams can ask questions across drawings, contracts and specifications together to find details, investigate scope gaps and conflicting requirements, verify answers through source-linked citations and apply those findings in standardized preconstruction reviews and workflows.

CrunchAI combines proprietary pre- and post-processing with agentic optimization to deliver high-quality answers tailored to construction workflows. Because that work takes place in a shared project environment with enterprise-grade security and functionality, teams can collaborate around identified issues, track work and maintain visibility into how risks are being addressed across the project. Teams can then move identified issues to repeatable reviews and assign follow-up and resolution workflows, helping ensure important findings are handled consistently across projects.

Building Confidence Before Breaking Ground

By analyzing drawing sets within the broader project context, Document Crunch enables teams to:

• Improve bid set quality: Automatically verify sheet indexes, identify missing sheets or spec sections and flag discipline discrepancies and other potential red flags earlier in preconstruction.
• Find conflicts across project documents: Review drawings alongside contracts and specifications to surface conflicting requirements, scope gaps and unclear responsibilities.
• Standardize preconstruction review: Apply the same company checks across drawing sets and related project documents so important requirements and risks are reviewed consistently across teams.
• Give the build a stronger start: Resolve more requirements and scope questions before award so fewer preventable issues carry into execution.

“On a recent renovation project, we had to redo some plumbing, but the drawings didn’t show that we would also need to cut concrete and backfill,” said Kristen Ortiz, vice president of project controls at Hill & Wilkinson. “Document Crunch caught those additional requirements, helping our team identify work that might otherwise have been overlooked.”
