The Next Evolution of Cordless
One platform, more possibilities
THE NEXT EVOLUTION OF CORDLESS: ONE PLATFORM, MORE POSSIBILITIES
For years, cordless innovation in construction was largely measured by how effectively battery-powered tools could replace everyday essentials like drills and impact drivers. As ergonomics improved, runtimes increased, and performance expectations were met, contractors gained confidence in bringing cordless solutions to more and more jobsites for a growing number of applications.
Today, the question is no longer whether a battery can power a drill – it’s whether cordless technology can support the demanding applications traditionally reserved for larger corded and gas-powered equipment: breaking concrete, cutting asphalt, coring, grinding, and other heavy-duty tasks that test the limits of productivity and runtime.
From tool replacement to platform adoption
Moving between these different applications often requires multiple tools throughout the day. That can mean juggling separate batteries and chargers for each tool category – which can create inefficiencies that impact jobsite productivity. Contractors have since shifted their focus beyond individual tools to broader systems that can support an entire workflow across the jobsite.
As battery technology has advanced, manufacturers like Hilti are now building platforms capable of supporting a wider range of applications from a single battery ecosystem. This philosophy continues to shape the evolution of Hilti’s Nuron battery platform.
What began as a unified cordless system has grown to power everything from impact drivers and light-duty fastening tools to some of the most demanding applications found on today’s jobsites. With Nuron, rather than switching between battery platforms, crews can now operate within a single ecosystem designed to support each stage of the job.
Nuron flash-charging battery and boost mode dual-bay charger
Hilti recently expanded its battery lineup with new high-capacity solutions intended to support increasingly demanding cordless applications. The Nuron B22-260 flash charging battery and Nuron C 8D/DC-22 dual-bay flash charger, are engineered to transform productivity for large cordless tools when used in tandem. Together, these new solutions are built for what crews need most:
- A smoother shift to cordless – makes heavy duty tools, such as cut off saws and jackhammers, a practical alternative to corded or gas options, without sacrificing power or reliability.
- Dependable performance in tough conditions – advanced thermal design runs cooler, cools faster, and charges at higher temperatures.
- Continuous operation – boost mode and dual bay charging keep a fully charged battery ready to go.
- More work per day – up to 2x shorter charge times help speed the overall work cycle.
- Less downtime – faster charging keeps tools in use instead of on the charger.
The C 8D/DC-22’s charging technology enables boost mode. And when paired together, the B22-260 battery will trigger flash charging, supported by its proprietary charging algorithm and advanced thermal management. With flash charging mode, the B22-260 battery is engineered to run cooler, cool down faster, and charge at higher temperatures.
When the B22-260 and the C 8D/DC-22 work in sync, the charger’s boost mode will ensure there is a fully charged battery ready to go once tool usage drains the current battery. This reduces charge times by up to 2x and shortens the overall work cycle to help keep tools running longer throughout the day. This technology further enables the conversion of gas-powered and corded tools to heavy-duty cordless tools like the DSH 900-22 Cut-off saw and the TE 3000-22 Jackhammer.
Together, the B22-260 and C 8D/DC-22 set a new standard for high-performance cordless applications, delivering faster charging, cooler operation and advancing to continuous use and higher productivity on the jobsite, without compromising power, performance and reliability.
TE 8-22 Cordless rotary hammer
For contractors who need heavy-duty rotary hammer performance, the TE 8-22 Cordless rotary hammer brings the power and productivity of the Nuron battery platform to demanding concrete applications. Delivering 2.4 ft-lbs. of impact energy in a compact 6.5-pound package, the TE 8-22 is engineered for fast, efficient drilling and light chiseling while maintaining the mobility and flexibility of a cordless tool. Advanced features such as 3D Active Vibration Reduction (AVR) help reduce vibration exposure by up to 40%, while Active Torque Control (ATC) and an electronic slip clutch provide greater control and confidence when drilling in concrete.
Designed to go beyond drilling alone, the TE 8-22 is compatible with the TE-DRS-22 onboard dust removal system, creating a fully integrated solution that helps manage dust at the source while supporting cleaner, more productive jobsites. With multiple operating modes, SDS Plus compatibility, and the proven performance of the Nuron platform, the TE 8-22 delivers the cordless power, durability, and versatility needed for tough concrete work.
TE 30-22 Cordless rotary hammer
Built for heavy-duty concrete drilling and chiseling, the TE 30-22 Cordless rotary hammer delivers Hilti’s most powerful and versatile SDS Plus battery-powered performance yet. Powered by the Nuron platform, it combines exceptional runtime with up to 30% more power and 40% less vibration, helping you take on demanding drilling, anchoring, rebar doweling, and light chiseling applications with greater comfort and control.
The brushless motor and high-capacity Nuron batteries provide up to twice the runtime per charge, while drilling through rebar up to 200% faster than previous generations. Advanced safety features, including Active Torque Control (ATC) and 3D Active Vibration Reduction (AVR), help reduce strain and improve confidence on the jobsite. Despite its heavy-duty performance, the TE 30-22 remains lightweight and maneuverable, making it the go-to cordless solution for tough concrete work.
Charging becomes a productivity tool
As batteries become more capable, charging technology has become an increasingly important part of the cordless equation. The challenge isn’t simply replenishing a battery – it’s ensuring that charging infrastructure keeps the pace with the demands of larger crews, higher-capacity batteries, and increasingly cordless jobsites.
With Nuron’s all in one battery platform, contractors get gas and corded level performance in lighter, more compact cordless tools. By powering virtually every application with a single battery system, Nuron eliminates the need for multiple battery types – reducing clutter, simplifying Fleet management, and lowering overall investment.
The broader vision extends beyond individual chargers. New charging dock and power-distribution solutions are designed to help crews organize and manage multiple batteries from a centralized location, whether positioned in a workshop, mounted in a jobsite trailer, or integrated into mobile storage systems.
The CI D 4-22 Charging dock holds up to four chargers and can be mounted on a wall, ProKit trolley or inside the ProKit XL toolbox for greater flexibility. And the Smart Power Bar CI acts as the optimized power management system for the high-volume battery charging station. With twelve outlets, the power bar prioritizes the chargers in the first three outlets, reducing downtime and managing peak demands.
Cordless continues to expand, but choice still matters
The rapid evolution of cordless technology does not mean every application is moving away from traditional power sources. The construction industry remains diverse with varying jobsite conditions, project requirements, and productivity demands. While cordless solutions continue to expand into areas once dominated by corded and gas-powered tools, those power sources still play an important role.
Corded tools remain valuable for applications requiring continuous operation and dependable power delivery, and gas-powered equipment continues to offer advantages in remote environments where access to power may be limited. For that reason, Hilti continues to invest across its cordless, corded, and gas-powered portfolios – offering contractors the flexibility to choose the right tool and power source for the job at hand.
As advancements in batteries, charging systems, and tool performance continue to reshape the industry, contractors are gaining access to cordless solutions that support a broader range of demanding applications than ever before. Increasingly, the future of cordless less about replacing a singular tool, and more about enabling an entire platform to power more of the jobsite.
