TEXAS (Feb. 16 2021) — Severe winter weather across the country is causing blackouts and delays this week. Construction projects in Texas may be hit particularly hard as the overloaded power grid creates rolling blackouts lasing 30 hours or more in some parts of the state. Phil Thoden, president and CEO of the Associated General Contractors Austin Chapter released a statement suggesting that the winter storms could cause delays for up to a week. Texas isn’t alone in experiencing the severe weather or the delays that have come with it. North Dakota has experienced similar power outages and one firm in Louisiana has had to halt work on several health care projects and the Four Seasons Hotel & Residences in New Orleans.
