Bipartisan agreement provides groundwork for future infrastructure legislation.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 19, 2013) - Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) applauds the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on unanimously approving the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA).  The bill now awaits a vote by the full House of Representatives.  The Senate previously passed a WRRDA bill in May, 2013.  Upon the Committee's passage of the bill, AEM President Dennis Slater issued the following statement:

"I am pleased to see the House Transportation Committee work together to pass this bill in order to strengthen our national infrastructure system.  Investing and improving our nation's infrastructure is vitally important to American manufacturers and their ability to remain competitive on a global scale.

"I would specifically like to thank Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) for his invaluable leadership bringing this bill through Committee.  I hope the example set by all the Committee Members working together to get this important legislation done will lay the groundwork for future bipartisan agreements on transportation bills.  House leadership should now bring this legislation to the floor for final passage without delay."
