  • Cervus Equipment Corp. Completes Frontier Peterbilt Acquisition

    Cervus Equipment Corp. announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of the business assets of Frontier Peterbilt Sales Ltd. (“FPSL”), the business of Frontier Collision Center Ltd. (“FCCL”) and certain properties from Frontier Developments Ltd. (“FDL”). Cervus acquired the net assets for approximately $33 million including $14.4 million for the land and buildings from FDL through a vendor take back mortgage of $13.4 million and $19.6 million in cash.  The assets acquired include four Frontier Peterbilt dealerships/branches located in Saskatoon, Regina, Estevan and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, and a collision repair centre located in Saskatoon, SK.   • Construction Manager Completes David A. Cofrin Asian Art Wing Designed to Achieve LEED Gold Certification

    GAINESVILLE, FLA. — Construction manager Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) completed the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art’s new David A. Cofrin Asian Art Wing at the University of Florida, which will open to the public on March 31, 2012. Designed by Le-Huu Partners to achieve LEED Gold certification from the United States Green Building Council, the $13.6 million, three-story, 26,000-square-foot addition will feature works from China, India, Japan, Korea, and South and Southeast Asia.   • Infrastructure Debate: Highway Bill Passes in Senate

    (March, 15, 2012) – On March 14, the Senate approved its $109 billion surface transportation and infrastructure bill, MAP-21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century), with a bipartisan vote of 74 to 22. It allows for funding to remain at current levels for two years. According to AEM (the Association of Equipment Manufacturers), this bill “reforms the way highway programs are administered, allowing for quicker and more efficient project approval… .” The New York Times reported on March 14 that the Senate bill provided funding not through raising the gas tax, but rather “with an array of revenue provisions, tapping a trust fund established to clean up leaking underground storage tanks and adjusting the way pension fund contributions and liabilities are calculated.” But…

Final Tier 4/Stage IV regulations for off-highway diesel engines begin as early as 2013 for engines 55 kW (74 hp) and below.   • ANSI Approves New Fall Protection Standards

    DES PLAINES, IL (March 5, 2012) – The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved two American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) standards addressing fall protection — the new ANSI/ASSE Z359.14-2012, Safety Requirements for Self-Retracting Devices for Personal Fall Arrest and Rescue Systems, and the revised ANSI/ASSE Z359.4-2012, Safety Requirements for Assisted-Rescue and Self-Rescue Systems, Subsystems and Components. The standards are part of the Z359 Fall Protection Code.
