App Spotlight: iAuditor

SafetyCulture iAuditor is a mobile, safety auditing app that allows construction workers to track on-site safety, take photos and add diagrams or drawings to illustrate potential hazards, complete reports on the spot and export reports in a variety of formats. As a result, safety inspections can be managed in real time—workers can seamlessly collect and share data across teams, while project managers can instantly sign off on inspections and make critical safety decisions. In 2015, iAuditor was featured as the top business app in the Apple App Store.

How do I get it? iAuditor is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Microsoft Windows App Store. SafetyCulture released its API in October 2015, allowing users can push their data into third-party systems like SharePoint, Salesforce or automate their tasks with Zapier.

Who is it geared toward? iAuditor is for construction professionals across all levels of command who have to perform inspections and audits regularly, either to ensure their workplace is safe or to ensure they have a quality system in place and are looking to drive workplace safety. Traditional safety reporting takes hours, and is often completed by project managers who may be unaware of the daily hazards frontline workers face. With the app, anyone on the jobsite can perform an inspection with their smartphone, send it off to a contractor or manager and save the audit data to their account, which collects analytics. SafetyCulture’s analytics platform allows you to centrally manage your organisation’s templates and audits using data collected from the app. By syncing your data from your devices, you can see trends in your analytics.

How does it work? The iAuditor app has four main features: templates, audits, instant reports and an analytics dashboard.

1. The templates are the blank inspection forms used to conduct the audits. Users can create their own forms from scratch, or customize one of the app’s 60,000 existing checklists. Once the template has been created, users can begin safety inspections.
2. Audits can be conducted on the spot using the forms created. Workers can audit and collect data in real time, capture and annotate photos and sync their data to their account for audit backups.
3. After audits are complete, the app generates an instant report using the data collected, which can then be sent off to project managers or contractors.
4. To gain insight into their data collected in the field, construction managers can see the data populated from their audits using the analytics platform to instantly know where they are deficient or proficient.
