Balfour Beatty Completes Rex Road Elementary

RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 3, 2025) — Balfour Beatty announced the completion of Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) new 133,000-square-foot Rex Road Elementary School campus in Holly Springs, North Carolina. Marking the 15th school Balfour Beatty has delivered for WCPSS, the nearly 20-year partnership has helped build learning spaces that support student success and rapid community growth.

The new Rex Road Elementary School is designed to accommodate 800 students from kindergarten through fifth grade and features modern learning environments including classroom space, learning commons, a cafeteria, gymnasium and media center. The completion of the K-12 project comes at a pivotal time for the district, which is experiencing a surge in school construction to address overcrowding and meet the demands of a rapidly growing population.

“We know the pressure our school systems are under as communities grow,” said Jeff Sandeen, president of Balfour Beatty in the Carolinas. “At Balfour Beatty, our role is to be our client’s steady partner by showing up, listening and building the planned facilities that students and teachers need to succeed. Rex Road Elementary is one of those projects where we all worked together to achieve the same goal and the results speak for itself.”
