Throughout history, the construction business has proven to be the virtual and literal building block of economic growth for anyone willing to take on the challenges associated with it. For Denna Millhollin, owner of DC Construction Group in Fresno, CA, one of those challenges was competing effectively in a traditionally male dominated industry.  But she was determined to prove that the work ethic instilled in her by family, ambition and effective relationship marketing were irrefutable tools for success in any endeavor.

It didn't take long before the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) took notice and awarded her company the first of numerous contracts. Since that time, DC Construction has seen it's project revenues grow by over 500 percent. With such rapid expansion, Millhollin was determined to surround herself with the best people-120 of them-and the best equipment.  "We use a lot of Yanmar equipment-what I like about Yanmar is its quality and durability," remarks Millhollin.

In January of 2006, PG&E offered DC Construction an alliance contract that set the wheels in motion for a long-term relationship to support the upwardly spiraling demand for energy throughout California. It was a  $21.1 million opportunity Millhollin accepted with vigor and attacked with a vengeance. It also netted her and her company a "Diverse Supplier of the Year" award from PG&E. In October of 2008, DC Construction also claimed PG&E's "Safety Supplier of the Year" honor at PG&E annual supplier conference.

PG&E Corporation is a Fortune 200 energy-based holding company, headquartered in San Francisco, CA. With assets valued at $36 billion, its operations include electric and gas distribution, natural gas and electric transmission, and electric generation. It is the parent company of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, with approximately 20,000 employees, is California's largest investor-owned utility. PG&E serves more than 15 million Californians throughout a 70,000 square-mile service area in northern and central California.

DC Construction's phenomenal growth has necessitated an expanded corporate complex, which was purchased in October of 2007. This 33,370 square foot facility is situated on 5.5 acres and is also home base for an extensive fleet of construction equipment.
