NCCER’s module Introduction to Alternative Energy has been approved as high-quality green building education by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Introduction to Alternative Energy went through a rigorous review process in which a team of third-party subject matter experts evaluated the course based on its content and instructional design quality.

NCCER earned recognition as a USGBC Education Provider in 2010 with the approval of Your Role in the Green Environment and four HVAC modules. Education Providers are third-party organizations that offer top-notch and relevant green building education and training that has been peer-reviewed and approved by USGBC.

"Education Providers play a pivotal role by working with USGBC to provide green building professionals with the diverse continuing education they need to grow their knowledge and their careers,” said Rebecca Flora, USGBC’s Senior Vice President for Education and Research. “Anyone interested in broadening and deepening their understanding of green building theory, techniques and trends will benefit from the diverse and quality course offerings from USGBC and its Education Providers.”

With its approval by USGBC, Introduction to Alternative Energy will now help LEED Professionals satisfy their Credentialing Maintenance Program requirements from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). Introduction to Alternative Energy is worth 25 GBCI CE hours by USGBC.

Through this course, NCCER is helping to advance the knowledge and skill of the green building community.
